WHERE DO YOU CALL HOME

WHERE DO YOU CALL HOME I close my eyes and suddenly a white landscape appears in front of it.
In the distance I can see the turquoise waters of the sea, I hear the seagulls crying and there are many people around.
I am there with my family, united, the sun on my skin is warm and the sand under my feet is soft.

I am in Siesta Key Florida, or perhaps in Manasota Key, behind me there are pretty little wooden houses and my room is in one of them.
I look around and people smile at me, I feel at ease, on the beginning of a journey.
I know I can take a car and drive for thousands of miles to discover new grounds and I feel at home.

The problem is that as of right now this is fantasy, I am not in Florida any more, certainly will be in the near future, with god’s blessing but it has become my safe place strangely enough.

I struggled a bit when we landed in Miami because I needed a break from all the crowds, the motorway, the civilization.
But I have come to discover I could break from it all on the slow paced beaches of the Mexican Gulf, as I had not wind down in a long time.
I could pop a beer and watch my retired neighbors enjoy a glass of wine watching the sunset.
I could see an endless summer place where I wanted to be.

I have chosen Nerja right now because I like it and because it was the smart move for us.
But the more I get entangled with bureaucracy and taxes and paperworks and this and that, the longer summer takes to arrive up here, the more I struggle with my own choices, and I run to my safe place a little too often.

I have made a duty to make any place I am my home, by finding ways to strive and blossom, the sun and the weather playing a major role in that.

Today I am wearing a simple long sleeves shirt in the shop and it’s been a long time it hasn’t happened.
Will my little patience be relieved with nice warmer days soon, will wisdom tame the beast ? We’ll see about that !

For now I can only be immensely grateful for the adventures life has given me to live, for having plucked up the courage to make the move to move, and if I have no home right now, my heart and that of my loved ones is my home.
And you where do you call home ?
