MOROCCO by KRISS on 15 september 2015

The best way to go to Essaouira from Marrakesh is by the road (the only way actually I think).
But an even better way is to do so with a taxi.
Taxi price are low (we paid less than 30€ for the trip back and forth) and if you're lucky your taxi driver will be talkative and you will discover lots of things about the locals chatting for the few hours that separate the two cities.

We were told that Essaouira is a privileged place for Moroccans because the weather is cooler there and summers can get very very hot ! We went during winter and there wasn't much difference between the two places.

On the road you will see slums and then shops (carpets, argan oil).
You can visit those actually which is quite interesting, although the not very local choice of products you get in the "traditional argan shops" lead you to assume most of the products are imported but hey, this is globalization everywhere people !

Oh goats climbing trees are something to miss as well !

Essaouira is a harbor and there are lots of fishermen's boat and fishes.
Its souk is very peculiar and feels like another world.

One day was enough for us there and we were happy to have made the trip only for one day since we covered pretty much everywhere.

Also, renting the services of a guide is also cheap and if you're luck you'll get a very knowledgeable local who will tell you everything there is to know about the place !
