FROM SIEM REAP TO PHU QUOC

FROM SIEM REAP TO PHU QUOC This morning we left Siem Reap to fly to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and then connect to Phu Quoc.
Let me first tell you how that all went and our impressions.
The flight, sold by Vietnam airlines is operated by a plane Little Planet in Siem Reap and all the crew was Russian.
I have never seen a air hostess be that much of a scary and sexy mix.
She told off passengers who either got up too early after take off or after landing and wow, just a whip by her side was missing !

Anyways, landed in Vietnam complete change of scenery.
Ho Chi Minh City is an enormous city and didn’t really appeal to me by the first sights I got from the plane.
Once landed, bear in mind you are in yet another tropical country of air conditioning madness ! While there is a nice 25°C or 28°C outside, every corridor and bus of the airport is cooled down to probably somewhere around 15°C.
I will never understand that, it goes in pair with drinking more ice cubes than liquid in Vietnam but I guess it must be appreciated by most people.

Ho Chi Minh City airport is old I guess and was probably built at a time it didn’t hold that many flights and connections.
It is quite difficult to find your way, it’s poorly indicated and you will perhaps have to ask around.
Unfortunately, english language is not the Vietnamese strong suit and you might ask a few times before someone understands what you say.

Once in the domestic terminal (which is outside of the international one on your right) once you’ll have fought your way through a dense crowd of people, we were about the rare non Asian folks around and it was funny to be that much a minority.

We had little time for a lunch ahead of us and went to the Big Bowl restaurant whose name could well be the Big Empty Bowl (seriously you’re getting more water than anything with your soup).
There my US Dollars were turned down and I had to use a Visa card to pay the equivalent of $6 for 3 bowls (at least it was cheap).

Ok so we’re on our way to Phu Quoc now !
