WAXING CANVAS

Vintage old fashioned looking canvas bag ! That sounds appealing doesn’t it ? It so happens most photographers are worse than fashion victims when it comes to bags ! They own one for every occasion, every excuse and even I must admit that I have numerous camera bags, and a perfectly good excuse for each of them !

In my quest of getting rid of one old item if I get a new one, I do have my Lowepro flipside 400AW on sale at bargain price (40€) though !

But what I discovered recently is that I could wax some old canvas bag myself and even enjoy doing it.
If you like smells of honey and beeswax, noble materials, this is definitely for you ! It is actually very simple, you need to get your hands on some wax (I got mine from Amazon and the brand is Fjällräven) and a hair drier.
After that, you need patience and a bit of rubbing.
It’s pretty straightforward, you rub the wax soap over the canvas so as to get a nice layer of wax.
You then melt the wax with a hair drier and repeat the operation until it’s waxed enough.
I did it three times on my bag and it can now take a rain easy peasy !

And it now smells like heaven !
