DON'T CROSS NESTING SEAGULLS

PREVIOUS / NEXT

PORQUEROLLES by KRISS on 18 march 2016

When we tell you to leave the damn thing alone ! You know when you’re being stubborn and just want to do things your way.
Well nature doesn’t like humans butting in, and humans are failing on every single aspect at respecting nature.
And by the little respect we have of our mother nature one could even wonder if we are not stranger to this world.

Anyways, wild animals like to be left alone, especially when nesting and I learned that on the island of Porquerolles because I’m a stupid human aren’t I !

I was walking on the far east end of the Island, facing the other Island of Port Cros, a very remote difficult to access part of the island and apparently, nursery of seagulls.
Suddenly my attention was caught by blue eggs, or to be exact, Kate pointed out to me « hey, look at these, are they blue eggs ? ».
They were a little closer to me and so I stepped to have a look, just to verify these were eggs.

I couldn’t have seen the fierce seagull guarding the nest just behind a rock.
It suddenly flew towards me like an attacking aircraft and I immediately stepped back.
It was too late, in a second I was surrounded by a flock of very unhappy seagulls, charging the top of my head and I quickly ran.
I am sure that from the distance the scene must have been very humorous !

There are far worse examples of men disturbing animals in the wild lately, I’m not even talking about the fat greasy millionaires who go to Africa to kill a few endangered species and then boast about it, no simply the selfies dumbass that multiply over and over on the surface of the planet.
Last year in Costa Rica, one endangered sea turtle species was so pissed off at being taken on selfies with tourists that they deserted the place.
The only problem being that this is their nesting place and they will simply not reproduce.

In the same trend, I saw the shocking image of a large crowd of imbeciles holding a baby dolphin out of the water in Chile to take selfies with it.
The poor animal got lost too close from the beach and tourists found the perfect opportunity to glorify the use of their stupid smartphones.
Smart isn’t it ? Well it resulted in killing the dolphin which was left abandoned on the sand like a cigarette butt.
It had no more use did it !
