NIKKOR 70-200MM F2.8 VRII

Nikon 70-200mm VRII is a marvelous lens but it's huge size puts me off carrying it in my bag most of the time.
I purchased this lens because I could not afford the 200mm f2 and honestly I use it locked at 200mm most of the time.

First because I own a 85mm f1.4 for the other spectrum of that lens and because the 2.8 aperture is not enough for me at this range.
Also like you often find yourself using a super wide angle mostly at the wider possible end, you may use zooms at the other end.

This is a heavy lens and very noticeable to use outside, having had to carry it around all day during weddings on my d4s I can say it really is not very practical.
Then it makes wonders, it is a fast focusing lens in low light situations and its not too wide aperture was compensated by the d4s high iso.

Most of the time I have it on the d4s or the d7100 for the dx ability to turn it into a 300mm.
I think I have not yet used it on the d800.

Maybe there's something wrong with me but I am not too keen on the VR thing.
It gives me the impression that the camera is moving constantly on its own and I tend to turn it off.
However even at 200mm you can shoot sturdy at 1/125 at full aperture for nice portraits with bokeh quite easily.

And this is the good but also frustrating part.
At f2.8 it does produce a nice bokeh but just enough to let you wonder what it would be like at f2 and you always feel like you're missing something.

I am more a prime lens kind of person and I only own two zooms (that one and the 16-35mm) because I couldn't find any lens matching my needs within my budget for these purposes.

So as of right now I am happy with that Nikkor 70-200mm and this is an almost necessary lens to have on a wedding but should Sigma get a 180 f1.8 at a reasonable price I would certainly go for it! Then if you're looking to get rid of your 200mm f2 for a cheap price look no further I am your guy!
