NO MAS SILENCIO

PREVIOUS / NEXT

NERJA by KRISS on 26 october 2015

NO MAS SILENCIO This is a very sad graffiti on a wall next to my daughters school in Nerja.
It says NO MORE SILENCE and depicts children crying or sad.

Maybe I didn’t get it perfectly right but the message this piece of street art gives me is to incite children to break the silence of being abused.
I have three children so I am sensitive to the message and when I look at the graffiti itself I can’t help guessing it was realized by children as well so the message it conveys is even stronger.

As a matter of fact I love street art and might even add a section on street arts on this blog because I love them.
I did have acquaintances as a teenager who could paint amazing graffitis on walls, trains etc.
I personally never managed to get enough interested, either on paper or on a wall.
I only tried it once in an abandoned warehouse and realized how difficult it is to get the proportions right.

So I do admire this type of artwork in cities (Nerja maybe not so much but it’s on an ugly building that is halfway being constructed or abandoned) in a remote street so that’s not spoiling anything more beautiful !

And as for the construction of the image, since the wall is stuck between a narrow pavement and parked cars at all time, I shot that at 16mm a morning while the light was even and assembled it with photoshop, trying lazily to get the proportions right ish.
