BUDGETAIR REVIEW Before jumping into that quick review of the company Budgetair.es which I used to book plane tickets yesterday, let’s just say that we now know which country we are going to visit this winter : Cambodia ! I am beyond super excited and will post a dedicated post about our choice and itinerary.

Ok, so as usual I used Kayak to search for flights.
But why ? Well mostly because they have an option to search flexible dates 3 days before and 3 days later your departure and return dates.
In a word that covers a whole week so you can see at a glance in a couple of minutes a whole month of flights to any destination in a table.
Just one screen, very simple to read, no scrolling, no remembering, just all the prices right in front of you ! And they even added a clever color code (oh thank you Kayak you).

Well looking from flights to Siem Reap, the best offer for us happened to be through Budgetair.es.
I didn’t even ask myself whether I had to give a thought about the company through which I was booking my flight.
I actually never did ! To me, Kayak is a reputable company and anything that happens from then on, is equally trustworthy.

So to cut a long story short, for some reason with my bank the payment didn’t go through and I wasn’t able to book the plane tickets, but what is interesting for you guys is how things went on from my confirming my payment.

I suppose a confirmation page opened with a reservation number perhaps, but unfortunately I closed all my tabs and then realised my mistake.
I immediately jumped to my emails to check my confirmation and…wait for it… wait for it… wait some more… nothing ! Not a single email from the company to confirm or inform me of anything.
So I went on their website and tried to retrieve my reservation with my infos.
And guess what I was asked : my email address and my reservation confirmation which I was supposed to have received by email.

Now I am not the worrying type about these things (I used to be), I know banks and credit debit cards have insurance systems against cons and it surely didn’t keep me awake last night.
But I did send the guys an email to ask what was happening.
I did receive an answer early this morning when they opened their offices probably so there is no lack of seriousness there.
They informed me the card had been rejected and that no flights were confirmed.
Ok, I understand, no issue there.

My only issue with these guys is that they should have some kind of automated system that informs their customers by email immediately after purchase of the status of their reservation.

For that reason, I booked our plane tickets this morning from their next competitors (Tix) who sent me an email of confirmation about 10 seconds after payment…

Now I am not saying one or other company is more serious or anything, I don’t know anything about that, I am only saying that I should have received an email, is all.
