UNDERWATER MODEL WITH A 35MM

UNDERWATER by KRISS on 25 april 2016

As I am writing this post I could well be receiving my 8” dome from Aquatech that is scheduled for delivery today.
This should be a game changer for me and this is the reason why I got ourselves this next piece of equipment for underwater shoots.

But yesterday, I had to adapt and wanted to experiment with my favourite lens for full bodies on land : the Sigma 35mm f1.4 art.
Behind a flat lens port in a clean and large pool (thank you Jessica) I could only hope this would match my needs.

Ok I have to admit, I knew beforehand I was going to be a little long and perhaps I should have taken my friend Jimmy’s Sigma 10-20 and cope with the vignetting.
I chose this prime lens and if I am mad at myself for the many out of frames or short of frames I got, I am satisfied for a first shoot in these conditions.

On a whole other level, this allowed me to meet and interact with very kind and interesting people.
I want to thank my friend Jimmy for the lens I should have used and didn’t.
I want to thank my friend Jessica for allowing me to use her swimming pool, you’re a star.
I want to thank providence for putting Jessica on my way one day before the shoot.
I want to thank Sara for overcoming her instinct of not getting in a freezing cold water for the sake of photographs.
I want to thank Guay for enabling my poor Spanish to be translated back to Sara every time she was like “What the f… ?”.
I want to thank both of them for their time effort and their friendliness.
I want to thank my daughters for assisting me in the swimming pool by locking me at the bottom when I needed and not try to drown me, also for their very good behaviour throughout all the shooting.
Of course I want to thank my love for her support and encouragement, for believing in me and putting up with my photoshopping in the bed last night.

This sounds like Thanksgiving and I’m just a few months in advance.
Perhaps because it feels good to give your thanks when you feel like it ! Oh and the weather seems to be on summer mode finally, thank you for that ! No seriously I’m glad and grateful for this.

Back to the photos, this is a first shoot, I hope I’ll be a fast learner, I know what went wrong and I should correct that for the next one.
That will be different with mostly splits by the way ! Thanks for reading so far if you are still on the page…
