COTTON CANDY UNDERWATER SHOTS

PREVIOUS / NEXT

UNDERWATER by KRISS on 27 august 2016

High levels of chlorine in a swimming pool not only makes your eyes feel like peppers but also ruin any existing color inside the pool.
I had to realise a series for a client in such a swimming pool a few days ago and I was a bit worried when I saw her pictures loading in Lightroom.

It wasn’t the first time I get difficult water in post production but this one was really bad.
To give you an idea I had to change the color temperature to 19000K to get the girl’s skin back ! Yes that much.

Anyways, the turbidity of the water and my choosing to open the lens at f11 (I usually shoot underwater at f16) gave me some kind of vaporous hazy background and it took me no time to realise the bottom of the swimming pool could benefit from some tint change.

I love the final result and the cotton candy palette I get looking at the images from the distance.

Besides, even though I had no previous knowledge of my client, she really came across as a very kind and sweet person.
I thought it to be a perfect match in a way.
