TV IS SOURCE OF ALL EVIL

TV IS SOURCE OF ALL EVIL TV is source of all evil What is the most important piece of furniture that proudly reigns in most people's living room ? Yes, the TV set ! Besides being one of the main instrument for brainwashing societies, it is also one very addictive screen for youngsters.

So are all screens actually but TV is the least interactive of them all.

I have 3 kids and out of the three only one, my eldest is really inclined to screen addiction.
The other two watch TV occasionally and my middle one is the least interested in screens altogether, probably because she has a poor eyesight.

So my most reliable kid when it comes to evaluating screen dangers and addiction is Tom.
I have noticed, which led me to cut down dramatically on all screens for the kids (I spend enough hours on a computer myself), that TV causes a different behavior than other screens.

While Tom does like anything that will captivate his eyes without requiring any effort, he will respond quite immediately when cut in the middle of being on a computer.
The only reason he has being on a computer is to research for homeworks but new tools such as youtube invariably lead kids to find the effortless option.
I have noticed he rarely googles anything, or goes to wikipedia, unless his research on youtube has proven unsuccessful.

And sometimes, while he's at it why not watch an episode of a manga on youtube.
I am a not a monster and I let him.

I grew up in an environment without TV, without candies, with organic food, montessori schooling and everything was fine really, except for one thing.
I was a freak ! My environment was billion years away from all that and back in time I think I was assimilated with some strange cult because I would not drink coke and was a vegetarian.
Back then you see, it wasn't as trendy as it is today.

All that just to point out that right now we live in a western society where I feel an obligation not to make my kids freaks and for that reason, I let them enjoy things that are "bad" for them because they are good in another way.
It's all a question of balance and that's the difficult part, that's the parenting part.

So back to our topic, I have noticed that Tom very quickly awaked from anything he is watching on a computer screen, even his favorite manga episode.
He will jump on his feet immediately if I call on him.
On the contrary, if he is watching even the most meaningless crappy ad on TV about a product he does not care about, I mean anything, his time of reaction is far slower.
He is like sucked into the damn thing, I can see it is requiring a tremendous effort of him to simply turn his head away for a couple seconds and if asked something he will require a few repetitions before starting acknowledging the question.
It takes even longer to get any reply out of him.
And getting his human self to actually get up and move away from the TV set requires for me to switch the TV off.

We are in a foreign country and our kids have barely had a year to learn spanish so for now, TV, or rather until now, I believed TV could be of some help, forcing them to adapt to this new language.

I am actually starting to doubt that theory and I think maybe radio does this but not TV.

There must be studies on the topic but from my own experience, it seems to me that watching TV simply deprives the most sensitive human being of all brain connection altogether.
They are just like zombies and nothing get in or out.
