STOP WAKING ME UP AT NIGHT

STOP WAKING ME UP AT NIGHT Don’t get me wrong, I am not straight out of the jungle with little to no tolerance as regards to noise.
I grew up near council schemes in a 16 storeys and believe me there were noises.
I lived one street behind a highway just at the entrance of a large city, I know noise.

But what I am experiencing in Nerja right now and have been for the past few months is far beyond anything humanly tolerable.
It’s been bugging me, depressing me, lowering my natural energy and seriously affecting me for weeks and before I do something about it, move, I feel the need to write about it.

Right now, my little family dwells in the beautiful beach town of Nerja that gets very touristy during summer.
As a consequence the place is buzzing all the time and it’s almost impossible to find a quiet place at any time of the day.
This I can cope with, not with ease but I can do.

But we happen to live near the infamous Plaza Tutti Frutti, well known for its clubs, its drug dealers and other festivities.
The noise just never stops, not the music, for that I am sure clubs comply to every single existing law to protect the neighbourhood.
No just people getting drunk or drugged up and getting out of the clubs all night long with absolutely no respect for people who live in the area.
They shout and they sing, they jump on their motorcycles and race back and forth, they even compete on how much noise they can achieve with their engine.

Last night reached another level when some idiot tried to impress a bunch of equally stupid girls (and succeeded of course) by showing off his fire exhaust system on his motorcycle.
This sounded like a fireworks display was happening just in front our windows.
Meanwhile the dumb geese were cheering “carrera, carrera, carrera”, for those who don’t speak Spanish that means race.

It was around 5 in the morning, understanding that I had gone to bed around 1.30am, not by choice but because I work and the level of noise is too high before then to even close the eyes.

So that’s me after a few weeks of sleep depravation I had only experienced when my kids were newborns.
I think I have reached my limit and even take into consideration investing in works headphones to sleep with.
Of course, I will be out of this damn place first occasion I get.

But I have illustrated this post with the word “Respect” because this is what it’s all about after all ! I was young and stupid before these chaps, and believe me I did my fair share.
But as regards to respecting people sleeping at night, I have very seldom crossed that line and neither did any of my peers.
There are sacred things and respecting noise levels in a street where someone sick might be resting, a baby, an old person, anyone, is definitely one of them.

So I am asking, what’s wrong with this mental degenerated generation ! We had speed, coke, ketamin, weed, mdma, alcohol, you name it, all the same.
Only if we f…ed up our brains we had brains, I feel lots of people nowadays are lacking that part of the deal.

And who’s to blame for that ? Parents, schools, governments, Tchernobyl, Coca cola, video games, internet porn, I really don’t have a clue but I’m sick of loosing my sleep night after nigh to a bunch of idiotic numpties ! I look forward to quieter days and nights.
