HAPPY NEW YEAR AIRPORT

HAPPY NEW YEAR AIRPORT First of all, we wish every one of our dear readers all the best for this new year ! On a more general basis, I wish anyone the best for any given day but it is tradition for the new year so I guess it carries more strength so I will repeat it : Happy New Year Everyone !

This year we celebrated the very first hours of 2016 in Englewood, Sarasota county of Florida.
We planned to celebrate at the pier in Venice beach but we got there early, picnicked and by 10pm the kids were curled up on the sand complaining about the cold and tiredness.
Since we needed our rest for the journey ahead we headed back to the house and celebrated the 00.00 time there !

At 5 am we woke up and set off around 7am to go to Miami airport.
On the road we stopped a couple of times and visited (kind of) Hollywood which we found very big and cityesque to our liking.
But they have coconuts there ! Anyways, by 1pm we had returned the rental car and headed to the terminal to take our plane.
There seemed to be a problem with American Airlines having issued the tickets and Iberia operating the flight.
At some point we believed we wouldn’t get onboard but everything was sorted out thanks for that !

We couldn’t believe how busy the airport was for this 1st of January, we didn’t know what to expect and aimed at dead quiet to frantic busy and it was more like the latest.
Our flight was full at the exception of 2 seats in a row close to our seats at the back of the plane which allowed me to rest a bit but I surely didn’t sleep much on that flight !

We landed in Madrid early in the morning which by the way makes it so much easier for your body not to be jet lagged.
When you travel forward, it kind of makes sense to take the plane in the afternoon, sleep a bit and wake up in the morning.

Madrid welcomed us with a little 6°C (freezing cold) and our tropical clothing did very little to help us with that.
Fortunately we quickly got in our rental car and warmed up.
The 600km separating Madrid from Malaga took forever because I was falling asleep almost every hour and had to stop to rest and take a quick nap.
This is one of the most difficult drives I’ve had lately, with the Miami to Englewood by night a month ago but I wasn’t close to the level of tiredness I was for that one.

Getting back our car with a flat tire (yes again !!!) at the long term parking lot we changed the damn thing and hit the road to Nerja.
Finally by sunset we were done with traveling for the day (days) and got to enjoy a few tapas and cerveza (not the kids for the cerveza).

I have to say that practically no one on that journey greeted us with a happy new year, maybe someone onboard of the plane but we’re not even sure.
That was disappointing ! Has the planet gone so wrong that it’s not even worth it to be polite now ? Sad, sad, sad…

Anyways, the big silver lining of this whole journey is that we finally got to find the holy grail of our quests for weeks : The last Playboy edition with nudes ! But let that be another post !
