WHAT WILDLIFE DID YOU SEE TODAY

ANIMALS by KRISS on 21 march 2016

The other day we thought out loud with Kate that the number of animals we get to see everyday has reduced drastically since we’re in Spain.
A few months earlier in Florida on a weekly basis we got to see the followings species :

- Dogs.
- Pelicans.
- 3 or 4 different seagulls.
- Turtles.
- Alligators.
- Squirrels.
- Dolphins.
- Sharks.
- Frogs.
- Rabbits.
- Ducks.
- Cormorants.
- Ibis.
- Crabs.
- Perhaps I forget a few…

I won’t even start with Costa Rica because comparing the jungle to a populated area wouldn’t be fair.
But I can compare Florida to where we are in south of Spain, it’s probably the same density of population.

Now in 3 months we have seen :

- Cats.
- Dogs.
- Seagulls.
- Pigeons.

Yes, that’s about it, no more wildlife to be seen.
Exciting uh ? So my question is, what happened to all the animals that I am sure once lived happily where we are ? Last year we saw a couple of squirrels and one green parrot but that was a rare thing.

Now I have an explanation, and I don’t know if it’s the right one.
In Florida I rarely saw any cat, here there are loads of them.
Someone once told me : « where there are cats, there is no more wildlife, the damn things kill everything ».
Could that be it ? Can we blame cats ? Or do we humans have anything to do with that ? I have no clue, all I know is that there were no pelicans for me to shoot at the beach today and probably never will be here.
